We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Editor to join the Human Interest desk. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing timely, engaging, and accurate content that aligns with YEN’s editorial standards and audience expectations. This role requires strong news judgment, creativity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced digital newsroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the timely processing and publication of a minimum of six (6) stories per day, in line with YEN’s editorial standards, in-house style guide, and all platform policies (including Facebook, Google, and other distribution channels). Additionally, secure at least five (5) exclusive comment-based stories weekly as part of the total stories published.
- Verify facts, sources, and the accuracy of all news reports before publication to maintain credibility and editorial integrity.
- Craft compelling, SEO-friendly headlines and ensure all stories are supported with appropriate, high-quality visual elements, including images and embeds.
- Create picture post designs using approved Canva templates and publish stories in both link and picture-post formats on the Facebook page daily.
- Actively monitor news, trends, and social media to identify and pitch relevant story ideas on a daily basis.
- Participate in team meetings, editorial planning sessions, and regular performance review meetings with the HOD.
- Be available to work at least one weekend shift (Saturday and Sunday) per month as part of the team’s rotation schedule.
Working Hours:Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the role is remote.Flexibility may be required to accommodate special events or breaking news coverage.
